Meet our newest author, Cavanaugh K. Sweeny. That's him on the front cover of his forthcoming book, "Your Life Sucks, Buy This Book." The title says it all - the book details Mr. Sweeny's proven seven-step process to transform your life in ways you never thought possible or ethical. The book is so popular it's already a national bestseller (of no place on Earth) even before it's been published.
Whether it's your career, your spiritual development, or your degree of personal fulfillment, the information in his book will do absolutely nothing towards making your life better, but your money will get him that much closer to buying another vacation home. It's chock full of useless advice, pointless anecdotes, and advice to get you fired.
This parody is a must-read for fans of self-help and business development books. Mr. Sweeny's book will be available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook by late January 2016. Find it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Audible, and other major retailers.
Is it December already? It's hard to tell in South Florida. Miami winters consist of that one day when the temperature dips into the high sixties. That's the day everybody goes to work decked out in what Miamians consider arctic gear: a windbreaker jacket and sweatpants.
This was a big year for us. In May, we broke new ground by venturing into audiobooks. We've published twelve this year - five full-length books, seven short stories. They've been tremendous successes, with grand total sales in the hundreds since the middle of this year. All of our titles are narrated by top notch talent. Of note: "Miami is Missing," narrated by Latin Grammy winner Vicente Solis.
In June we partnered with Ingram, a major book distributor. In Ingram's own words: "Water covers 70% of the world. IngramSpark covers the rest." We're pleased to have Ingram join our network of over a dozen distribution channels.
In August, we resumed accepting author queries. We've received a hailstorm of excellent material, and our editors are steadily working through the submissions.
In November, we partnered with Msgr. Pace High School in organizing a writing contest. We plan to make the ten best and brightest student writers into published authors before they head for college.
This was a big year for awards as well. Our fantasy/comedy, "The Gullwing Odyssey," took first place at the Pacific Book Awards (May 27). "Lilith," a short story from the Prometheus Saga, won the first place Royal Palm Literary Award (October 17).
Next year promises to be exciting. We plan to release at least two or three new titles in 2016. That's ambitious for a small press like us, but we've got the people, the plan, and the punch to get it done.
Great things await. Stick around.
You spoke, and we listened. And now, you get to listen to us - our new audiobooks, we mean. Coming soon is a wave of new audiobooks of some of our best short stories. They're bite-sized nuggets of audio-literary gold, coming to Audible, Amazon, Apple iTunes, and other fine retailers.
There's no lack of writing talent in South Florida. As publishers, we're eager to foster that talent. That's why we're doing something new.
We've partnered with Msgr. Pace High School in organizing a writing contest. Our plan is to make the best and brightest student writers into published authors before they graduate - how do you think that'll look on a college application? Their collected works will be published and marketed through our worldwide network of distribution partners.
The contest runs from October 31, 2015 to February 15, 2016 and is open to the junior- and senior-level students at Msgr. Pace High School. Entries will be professionally judged according to the company's stringent publishing guidelines. There is no fee to enter.
Winning entries will be assembled into an anthology scheduled for release in 2016.
